Questions we hear

Do I need a referral?

In Tennessee you can start without a referral. Your plan may still ask for one, and we tell you when we check your benefits.

Does my plan cover this, and do you take Medicare?

We bill many kinds of plans for physical therapy visits, including most PPO plans, Medicare, Medicaid, workers' compensation and auto injury coverage. Your plan decides what it pays. Classes are paid for separately and are not billed to a plan.

What if I pay myself?

We give you a written estimate before your first visit, and you pay for each visit on the day. You can ask for an estimate at any time.

How long is a visit, and who treats me?

A first visit is about an hour, with a physical therapist. After that, your plan of care sets how long each visit is.

How many visits will I need?

It depends on what your therapist finds, what you want to do again and how your body responds. Your therapist talks it through with you and changes it as you go.

What do I wear and bring?

Clothes you can move in and shoes you can walk in, plus your plan card, a photo ID and any notes from your surgeon or physician. For classes, socks with grip.

Will it hurt?

We work within what you can tolerate. Tell us when something does not feel right, and we change what we do.

Do you offer video visits?

Some check-ins can be by video, for people in Tennessee, where our physical therapists are licensed. Your first visit is in the studio.

Do you treat work or auto injuries?

Tell us who your adjuster is. Your state decides who may direct your care. If you were hurt in a crash or at work, get emergency care first.

What is the difference between a class and a visit?

A visit is care from a physical therapist and is billed to your plan or paid by you. A class is taught by an instructor, is paid for separately and is not billed to your plan. Your therapist tells you when a class is a good next step.
